Revolutionary Pool Cover
Pool covers - with solar heating properties page 2
I have now decided to secure the cover at the sides to prevent it from sinking. So I filled the pool up to its
maximum to give me some extra material in which to put an eyelet. And using some small elastic bungies
I have secured the cover to the sides of the pool.

Now this worked well apart from the fact that the eyelets are not really the best solution as they
can rip the plastic. I have thought of different ways of securing the sides and the one I'm going
to try next is a plastic clamp available at good DIY stores. I'm lucky as I have a metal pool surround
to clip this onto.

You can see from this image that the cover stays in place and the water won't come over the cover. It
actually works well even if its a bit of a pain to secure it. You must however secure it all the way around
because if you miss even a metre section it will overflow, as we have discovered! So there you have it.
The suppliers have advised securing the cover, and that seems to have done the trick. I have to say the
eyelets did rip the plastic so I now use clamps. If the pool level drops and the clips come off the problems
will re occur and the cover sinks! Also putting it on is a 2 person job because both ends have to be fixed
at once or it begins to swamp. It would have been better if I hadnt cut it to the pool shape (as advised) and
just draped it over the edge, or if the edge had been re inforced. The idea is good but the product needs
some work!
Heating & other efficiencies ( no thats not the pool temp!)

Its the 26th June today and you can see the air temperature above. The last four days have been
unbroken sunshine similar temperatures. The pool has reached 26deg. My neighbour who
has the same pool but no cover is at 24deg. So it works, and by the evening it was showing 27deg.
A week later with the Dordogne sunshine the pool is at 31 deg, and only losing 1 deg at night.
Also I have not lost a drop of water and not needed to add any chemicals.
It works really well as long as you can secure it, and its very light.
